C801 – Single-pole bi-directional DC high-voltage interlock contactors for electric vehicles

The Schaltbau Eddicy C801 series stands for compact, single-pole & bidirectional DC contactors with interlocking and extremely high shock resistance in NO position for charging powerful 800 Volt electric vehicles at 400 Volt charging stations.

Powerful electric vehicles usually use two battery banks, each with 400 volts, interconnected to form an 800 volt system in the drive train. This ensures high performance while driving. Only a few 800 volt high-performance charging stations are available. However, interlock contactors enable 800 volt electric vehicles to charge quickly and easily at 400 volt charging stations. For this purpose, interlock contactors of the C801 series configure both battery banks during the charging process so that they are charged in parallel. The robust, durable contactors do not require inert gas and have a high current-carrying capacity.

A patented mechanical interlock system ensures extreme shock resistance during normal operation. This prevents uncontrolled closing of the main contacts and the possibility of a short circuit of both battery units in the event of a collision.

Interlock contactor with mechanical locking in NO position

A patented mechanical interlock reliably prevents uncontrolled closing of the main contact system in the off position/in normal operation. The C801 thus ensures extremely high vibration and shock resistance. In the event of an impact, e.g. as a result of a vehicle crash, the possibility of both battery banks short-circuiting is thus avoided. This significantly increases safety.

Compact dimensions – High rated insulation voltage Ui up to 1,000 volts.

Smallest dimensions – great performance! All air gaps in the contact area are generously dimensioned. The rated insulation voltage is 1,000 volts. The design is based on standard installation geometries.

High continuous thermal current Ith up to 250 amps

Interlock contactors of the C801 series can carry up to 250 amps continuously – provided a sufficiently dimensioned connection cross-section of 80 mm². These excellent values are achieved through high contact forces and optimised contact geometry.

Universal, flexible and resource-efficient

Interlock contactors enable powerful 800 volt e-vehicles to charge quickly and easily even at 400 volt charging stations. Special charging cables are not required and a lower cross-section can be selected for copper wiring inside the vehicle. This saves weight and increases the potential range.
