Schaltbau high-voltage rotary disconnectors in the MDR500 series are designed for rated voltages of up to 1,500 V and continuous currents of up to 500 A per switching chamber. The modular product concept allows for single- and multi-pole versions, thereby offering a high degree of flexibility in system integration. The basis is a contact system patented by Schaltbau, which has already proven its worth in the manual disconnectors of the MD500 series. The MDR500 features two integrated auxiliary switches for reliable feedback of the switch position to a higher-level control system. An optional locking mechanism, for example using a padlock, protects against unauthorised operation.

Ergonomic hand knob
Manual actuator with rotary control for secure locking of the operating position; two positions: CLOSED=operating position, OPEN=disconnect position
Patented contact system
Extremely low contact resistance (< 100 µΩ) and very high short-circuit current withstand capacity (30,000 A @ 20 ms) for years of continuous operation. 1- and 2-pole versions available.
Modularity
The positions of the main contacts (right, top, left) can be freely configured relative to one another in 90° increments.
Mechanical locking
The switches can be secured in the operating and disconnected positions with an optional padlock to prevent unintended disconnection or re-energization.
2 auxiliary switches
S870 snap-action switch with silver or gold contacts as well as positive opening for diagnosis and switching status monitoring.
