1-pole bi-directional DC NO contactors, max. switching voltage up to 1,500 volts and currents up to 1,500 amps
C805 – DC bi-directional switching
Innovative DC contactors engineered for rapid megawatt charging — compact, customer-driven and ready for mobile applications
The C805 series meets the growing demand for high-performance, compact solutions that align with rapid electrification. Engineered for seamless integration and by handling up to 1,500 amps C805 contactors are optimized for Level 2 megawatt-class charging, accelerating development timelines and reducing system complexity.
Features
- No explosion risk:
Permanent magnetic arc quenching without gas encapsulation to prevent overheating and overpressure at all times - Best-in-class performance:
Silver alloy contact pills with a contact resistance of just μOhm 50 for low power losses and less cooling - High protection:
High breaking capacity up to 10,000 amps for 20 milliseconds without contact welding - Low power consumption:
Integrated economizer for optimal pull-in performance during switch-on and minimizes energy consumption in holding mode - V2G-capable for bidirectional charging stations:
Bidirectional contactors are required for optimal interaction between electric vehicles and charging stations. They enable not only charging, but also energy feedback into the grid or the use of the vehicle battery for external power supply
Applications
E-mobility automotive in commercial vehicles, buses, off-road and construction vehicles, and heavy passenger cars
The C805 automotive contactor is used in electric vehicles, buses, commercial vehicles, and construction vehicles and is part of the safety circuit in the high-voltage vehicle electrical system. In battery and hybrid vehicles, it can be used as the main contactor in the battery disconnect unit (BDU) and reliably ensures the galvanic isolation of the battery from the drive train. In the event of a fault, the contactor ensures galvanic isolation of the high-voltage battery from the vehicle electrical system, for example in the event of system failures, overload, or an accident. The C805 thus contributes significantly to the safety of vehicle occupants, rescue workers, and the vehicle itself, and supports the reliable operation of high-voltage drive systems.
