On-board systems – Alstom/ Panama

The Panama Metro entered into service in April 2014 with the first line linking Los Andes County with the city center. It is part of a major construction plan to improve transportation in Panama City and the west side of the country. It will eventually extend to 8 metro and tram lines, plus a branch line to the airport, by 2040.
For the extension of Line 1, the French manufacturer Alstom is building 6 additional five-car trains due to be delivered in 2016. For Line 2, which is currently under construction, 21 additional five-car trainsets are due for delivery in 2017 and 2018.
Schaltbau Sepsa designs and supplies auxiliary converters (145 kVA) as well as onboard security systems.
