The Santo Domingo Metro started operation in 2009 with a single line. The first part of a second line was opened in 2013, an extension is currently under construction. Four more lines are planned to be constructed in the near future, for a total of six lines.
The rolling stock is built by the French manufacturer Alstom (Metropolis platform); Schaltbau Sepsa was chosen to design and supply auxiliary converters and onboard information and security systems for 6 three-car trains. The scope of supply includes two 145kVA auxiliary power supply units as well as three 1kVA inverters per train, event recorders and passenger information systems (PACIS).
